To Art and all of my other former classmates,

Regretfully I will be unable to attend the reunion in
October. As some of you may know, I work full-time as
a nurse, and my employer is the State of Florida. Due
to an economic hit the agency I work for took, my job
was deleted in June. 8 RN positions were eliminated.
We were all given an opportunity to relocate within
the agency. But our jobs are different from what they
had been and we are the least senior of employees in
the units we are now assigned to. So time off is
restricted.

Sadly, I cannot come up to Mass. for the weekend.
Please, keep me in your thoughts as you all celebrate
this 40th year of our graduation. I will put a check
in the mail to Art for a donation towards any mailings
that are done after the reunion.

A bit about myself for the history book: I am twice
married, currently to my second husband for 23 years.
He is from NC, retired USAF with 22 years in the
service. We each had a child when we married, and we
adopted each others child, so everyone would be a
Smith with the same parents. Our daughter (my birth
daughter) is married and has two children, a boy age 1
and a girl, age 4. Our son (my husband's birth son)
is unmarried. The kids are 30 and 28 respectively.

I became an RN after attending a three year program in
Rhode Island and have worked in my profession since
graduation in 1965. Only took 14 months off for the
birth of my daughter. Have been in Florida since
1967, But I did move to Georgia for two and 1/2 years
where I met and married my current husband, Tom.

We live in Northwest Florida, the Panhandle of the
state. We plan to move closer to the coast whenever I
retire, which should be within five years. My husband
loves to fish. I love the beach. We are presently 35
miles north of Panama City and 45 miles south of
Dothan, Alabama.

Would enjoy hearing from any of my former classmates.
Wishing you all a wonderful time reminiscing and
partying. I would love to participate in a career
forum at the high school, if only to tell the present
students to "follow your dreams", as I did. If I had
listened to our guidance counselor, I never would
have gone to nursing school. My career has been wonderful,
challenging and rewarding.

Best wishes to all,

Sandy (Bond) Smith
